We have a new and wonderful opportunity for HOBY alumni!

HOBY, in partnership with Foroige, Cooperation Ireland and HOBY UK present the 2009 Albert Schweitzer's Leadership for Life, Inaugural Youth Leadership Conference in Dublin, Ireland. 

This international youth leadership seminar, inspired by and developed in cooperation with HOBY, will bring together 250 youth from around the world, including Ireland, US, United Kingdom and Nigeria to name a few.

This unique cross-cultural learning experience is truly a once in a lifetime adventure.  Leaving August 16, 2009, HOBY will take a delegation of up to 50 HOBY Alumni, age 15-17, to this beautiful country.  The five-day international leadership seminar takes place at Trinity College and Kings Hospital Preparatory School, August 17-21, 2009 in Dublin, Ireland.  Immediately following, HOBY participants will spend another 3 days exploring the Irish countryside, culture and cuisine.  There will be a minimum of one adult HOBY staff member or volunteer for every 10 HOBY Ambassadors participating.

Since this is just around the corner, here are a few details to help you decide if this trip is right for you;

  1. Must have a valid passport, no visa required for US citizens.  http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_830.html#Photos
  2. Must be under 18 during the dates of the conference.
  3. Must be able to travel to NY without a HOBY chaperone on August 16th, where HOBY staff will meet all students and begin the trip to Ireland as one large group.
  4. Must be able to travel back home from NY without a HOBY chaperone the day we return, August 24th.
  5. Must be one of the first 50 to sign up and pay.
  6. Must have medical insurance that will provide coverage in Ireland.

Additional information about what to bring, weather, program schedule, site-seeing activities, and more will be provided in the coming days and to those who actually register.

The All Inclusive Fee for this amazing opportunity is $2,995 and must be paid when registering. 

Your fee covers all of the following:

  1. Round trip airline tickets from New York's Kennedy International to Dublin, Ireland.  Leaving the afternoon of August 16th and returning the afternoon of August 24th.  (Fee does not cover round trip air fare from your home city to New York).
  2. All lodging accommodations throughout the trip.
  3. All meals beginning the evening of August 16th through lunch on August 24th.
  4. All tour excursions and fees.
  5. All program registration fees.
