HOBY’s success is a direct result of the hundreds of volunteers who serve key leadership roles on its corporate boards and program committees. Each August, HOBY proudly recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of its affiliates and volunteers through volunteer achievement awards. Key volunteers in the positions of Corporation President, Leadership Seminar Chairperson, Alumni Advisor and CLeW Director are invited to apply for an award in each of their categories in July. In addition, all volunteers are encouraged to nominate individuals for the HOBY Volunteer of the Year Award, presented to two volunteers selected by a committee of peers. Special certificates are also awarded.
Below is a listing of the 2010 award winners. HOBY is grateful to all of the men and women who generously contribute their time, efforts, talents and enthusiasm to make HOBY’s leadership programs for youth possible.
Awards are based upon overall performance and the completion of milestones in the areas of Management, Finance, Program and Public Relations. Corporate Boards that meet the required criteria qualify as either Superior or Outstanding. Recognition indicates that HOBY believes the awarded Corporate Boards are the models for all corporations.

Two volunteers are recognized annually as HOBY’s "Volunteers of the Year." Applications are taken through a formal nomination process and recognition is given based upon years of service, contributions to HOBY, nominator’s written comments, and other community service involvement. Recipients are announced at the annual volunteer Training Institute.
Ray Brown - Montana
Ray Brown is HOBY Montana's longest serving corporate board member. Ray is completely focused on providing the best possible experience for HOBY Ambassadors that reflects on HOBY's core values, while serving as a mentor to other volunteers. This volunteer's nominators explained that this person has done so for eighteen years, with more to come!
Steven L. Hall - Florida
Mid and North Florida's Corporate Board President and North Florida Leadership Seminar Chair has held multiple positions at his site and the World Leadership Congress over the last 13 years. This person's nominator said, "HOBY is life" to this recipient, which seems to be true as he has prioritized and managed HOBY throughout high school, college, law school, and his own recent wedding. This recipient is always encouraging of other volunteers, has a great positive attitude, and works very hard to foster the idea of one HOBY throughout all sites and HOBY programs.
